Get Skinny Before Summer - Weight Loss Competition
I started a weight loss competition on Facebook with my friends and had an AMAZING turnout! I can’t believe how many people were encouraged to join! I set it at a $25 entry fee and we had 29 people sign up! $725 jackpot baby!!
I am so excited that I had a part in helping people get motivated. The last weight loss competition I did was the first time I was really able to focus and not lose my train of thought and motivation. I made it all the way and ended up winning.
So here we are, Spring Break is about to start…so I decided to do this again just in time for summer. It ends on May 6 (8 week competition)! So far I have gone from 136.5 on Monday to 133 this morning (Wednesday). I’ll be posting my progress pics again too. I took them on Monday morning. I remembered how much that helped me.
I am tracking my progress on Instagram (weightwarriors) and MyFitnessPal (julieannbrody), so go follow me! :)
Your Body On...A 30-minute run leads to awesome mental and physical benefits - This is how I lost 21 lbs. in 6 weeks!

A person’s muffin top can materialize quickly. Researchers at the University of Oxford in England found that, on average, people can add up to 3 teaspoons of belly fat within 4 hours after eating a high-fat meal. The fatty tissue makes a temporary home around the waist before being stored elsewhere. Exercise to keep the fat from settling in.
First time running a long distance since my competition ended and I had my best time! I don’t know if it’s because I am eating regularly now or if it’s because my body has had a week to rest, but I felt great! Yoga class yesterday, running today. I’m back in the game :)
It just keeps getting better…
Last night I went shopping for the first time since I’ve lost weight. None of my jeans fit me, so I bought 2 pairs of jeans (size 1) and a black maxi skirt (size small). Then I bought 2 cute tops that are both size SMALL!!!!! I can’t believe how amazing it is to be this small again! All because I was able to stop putting horrible food in my mouth and getting out of the house for a run instead of sitting at the computer looking at pictures of girls that I WANT to look like!
Then I decided to go to get my motivation box of clothes out of their garage and unpack everything to see what I had. I found a great paid of sexy black cords that I wore on my first date with my boyfriend back in December 2009.
After getting everything out and being so excited, I decided to go through my closet and clean everything out that DOESN’T fit me. So I got a huge stack of clothes and put those in the box that I had originally got out of the garage. Now I’m ready! My entire closet is wearable now!! Before I would have to go through things and be like, “No, that’ll show my rolls too much…”, “No, that’ll make me look even bigger….”, “No, that’ll show my muffin top…”. I was on such a kick today that I have been in the most productive and happy mood! I went to Target on my lunch break and bought new sateen shorts (size 2), a sweater (size small), 2 wife beater tops (size small) and another top for $40! They have an amazing sale going on in the women’s section right now, you guys should seriously check it out. I guess it’s their end of season sale, but they had such CUTE things! The wife beaters were only $2! They’ll go great with my new maxi skirt that I bought at Nordstroms Rack! All together, I’ve spent $100 of my prize money and bought SO many new things that fit me. SO excited to hang my new clothes up when I get home.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
I’m not gonna lie…
I’ve been having a really hard time. Ever since I cheated and the competition has been over, it’s been really hard for me to keep my focus. My plan is to set mini goals for myself that I’m going to strive my absolute hardest to meet. First is the AIDS Walk in LA on October 14. It’s a 10k walk/run. I’m going to use this as my practice run because I’m going to do the Universal Studios Backlot Run on November 4. The big run that I signed up for isn’t until January 5. It’ll be my first half marathon. I’ve done 3 10k runs before and 1 5k run. I’m really looking forward to these runs. I just need to get my mind away from food and back to focusing on running and getting to my goal weight. My lowest weight that I hit was 116.2 at the weigh in on Friday morning, but that was after not eating or drinking after noon from the day before, so I don’t think that should be counted as my realistic weight. I will get back to that AND more. My goal weight is 113-115 and then I will be building muscle. I’ve had it with cheating with food. It tastes good for 2 seconds and is gone and then all your left with are the numbers on the scale rising after all of the hard work that you put in.
I just realized that I have a wedding reception to go to with my coworkers this Sunday. I want to look great in a dress after losing all of that weight, so I’m going to make Sunday my new short term goal! PERFECT!!! This is exactly what I needed! I’ll look forward to shopping on Saturday for a cute dress and Sunday is my perfect goal! I can do this! Running tomorrow and yoga this week!!! WOOOHOO!!!!
Today’s Weight: 116.6 lbs.
Total Lost: 21.0 lbs
At the work weigh in, I was in my bathing suit and I went down to 116.2 lbs, but this is the best I ever could’ve expected. I ate a little bit of sushi for lunch and I already feel like I need to go run it off. There’s no way I’m going to let myself get back to where I was. I’m only going to get better and better from here on out. This competition has taught me so much. I love my new body and love that I know what I can do with it now. I couldn’t be happier. :)
